Wolfgang (Rootcleaver of the Hearthgrove)
A broad, slightly curved blade grown—not forged—from a single piece of dense, resin-hardened wood, its edge reinforced with a naturally occurring stone-like growth along one side. The grip is wrapped in braided vine that never rots or loosens.

- Can cauterize wounds or cook instantly
Merrythought (The Veil of the Forgotten Performance)
A diaphanous, leaf-fine mantle woven from spider-silk and pressed petals, shifting subtly in color—never enough to notice directly, but always enough to remember incorrectly.

Once per Short Rest, after the wearer,
- Fails a Performance, Deception, or Sleight of Hand check OR
- Is observed doing something suspicious
The wearer may,
- Choose up to 3 creatures who witnessed her
- They must make a WIS save (DC = 8 + CHA + proficiency) and if they fail, they,
- Remember the action slightly differently
- Reinterpret it in a way that favors the wearer
- They rationalize what they saw
Separately, once per Short Rest, the wearer, if performing, can choose to captivate the audience, giving nearby allies advantage on their stealth rolls against the audience.
Ant (Clerk’s Seal of Provisional Authority)
A signet seal of dark, polished wood set in a simple band. The face bears no fixed insignia—only a smooth surface that seems to take impressions from whatever it is pressed into.
When the wearer presents, in person, a document/claim/identity, gains advantage on Persuasion or Deception checks involving authority, legitimacy, or procedure.
In addition, once per Short Rest)
Can declare “By provisional authority…” on one creature who can see and understand her and they must make a WIS save (DC = 8 + CHA + proficiency)
On failure:
- They treat her as having legitimate, temporary authority
- For 1 minute or until contradicted strongly by reality
The effect breaks if the wearer,
- Contradicts herself
- Overreaches absurdly
- OR someone else presents:
- Stronger authority
- Hard evidence against her
Hunkle (The Maul of Killing Good and Smashing Wood)
A massive, knotty maul grown from a single trunk, its head thick with dense burlwood and its haft wrapped in living vine that tightens slightly when gripped. It smells faintly of sap and smoke.
“Hunkle, this one is for you. You seemed… aligned with its philosophy.”
A maul that does 3d6 damage. Double damage against plants, wood, and wood adjacent items (such as buildings mostly constructed of wood).
Cassyndra (The Unsettled Deck)
A set of tarot cards, printed on soft cardstock imbued with magic. The images upon them are not fixed—each glance reveals subtle differences, as though the meaning is trying to settle and never quite succeeds.
While holding the deck, a user may,
- Cast Augury as a 10-minute ritual
- No spell slot required
- No material components required
The spell must be performed as a card reading:
- Shuffle the deck
- Draw three cards
- DM interprets their meaning using the imagery from the cards (or if the tarot deck is not available at the table, the DM just makes something up)
If the question is:
- Immediate (within ~30 minutes)
- Tied to the current location
- About a concrete action
The reading is clearer and more direct
If the question is:
- Vague
- Distant
- Long-term
The reading becomes:
- Symbolic
- Ambiguous
- Potentially misleading
Calder (The Branch of True Flight)
At first glance, little more than a length of curved wood resting among the others—unremarkable, unfinished even. But as it is lifted, the shape resolves itself. The curve is too precise to have been cut, too natural to have been forced. There are no tool marks. No joins. No sign that it was ever anything but this. It was not made. It was grown.

No disadvantage for long range shots. +2 to hit.
Laveleen (The Codex of the Unfinished Question)
A small, leaf-bound journal whose pages never seem to run out. The ink within shifts faintly when not directly observed, as though the text is trying to reorganize itself into better answers.
When the bearer spends 10 minutes examining text, symbols, magical phenomenon and uses this book, they gain Advantage on Arcana, History, or Investigation checks related to it. Also doubles the range of Detect Magic when cast as a ritual.
Gareth (The Heartwood Breastplate)
A breastplate grown—not forged—from interwoven layers of living hardwood, shaped over years into a form that fits the wearer as though it had been waiting for them. The surface bears faint growth rings, like the memory of seasons.
“We understand that you wished to purchase this armor. We prefer to grow this sort of thing.”
- Functions as a standard Breastplate (AC 14 + DEX max 2)
- No disadvantage on Stealth
- Counts as non-metal armor
- (1/Short Rest) Seasoned Defense. As a reaction reduce damage by 1d10 + CON. “The wood briefly thickens, like a tree bracing against a storm”
